Recap: Oviedo Lions vs. Wekiva Mustangs

The Oviedo Lions came tearing into Wednesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 54-46 win over Wekiva. Given Oviedo's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Wekiva is ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cameron Bryant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Harper, who scored 11 points.

Oviedo is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Wekiva, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Oviedo on the road again on Friday and play against Seminole at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Seminole knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 contests -- so hopefully Oviedo likes a good challenge. As for Wekiva, they will be playing at home against Apopka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
