Softball Recap: South Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

The matchup between South and Brecksville-Broadview Heights on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Rebels narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bees 14-12. For the Rebels, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Bees walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

South got a massive performance out of Summer Bliss (Lake Erie College), who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Bliss (Lake Erie College) has posted since back in April. Makayla Schneider was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: South lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

South's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10-1. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South will square off against North at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, they will face off against Twinsburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
