Basketball Game Preview: Marshall County Tigers vs. Franklin County Rebels

The Marshall County Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Franklin County Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Marshall County challenged Lawrence County on Tuesday. Marshall County fell 47-35 to Lawrence County. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 85th).

Marshall County's loss came about despite a quality game from Mashawna Ridley, who posted 18 points. Ridley continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Franklin County hadn't done well against Tullahoma recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Franklin County came out on top in a nail-biter against Tullahoma, sneaking past 48-45. The win was familiar territory for the Rebels who have now won four games in a row.

Franklin County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points over those games. As for Marshall County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Marshall County came up short against Franklin County in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 45-34. Can Marshall County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
