The Monument Valley Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Whitehorse Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Monument Valley's and Red Mesa's contest on Tuesday was close at halftime, but Monument Valley turned on the heat in the second half with 44 points. Monument Valley blew past Red Mesa 71-49. The win was just what Monument Valley needed coming off of a 57-27 defeat in their prior contest.
Monument Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braxton Goodshield out in front who scored 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goodshield has scored all season. Joshua Hicks was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Whitehorse suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 78-58 loss at the hands of Green River.
Whitehorse's defeat came about despite a quality game from Lyric Phillips, who scored 28 points. That was a full 48.3% of Whitehorse's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Adam Joe, who scored nine points.
Monument Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Whitehorse, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Monument Valley came up short against Whitehorse in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 45-40.
