Baseball Recap: Ponce De Leon Pirates vs. Altha Wildcats
Ponce De Leon had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Altha Wildcats, falling 20-5. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
As for Altha, their record now sits at 6-4. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Altha's part, Cayden Jones was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The Wildcats are undefeated when Jones posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise. Austyn Poole was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Ponce De Leon will head out to square off against Bethlehem at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 13.3 runs per game this season. As for Altha, they will head out on the road to take on Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
