Enochs is a perfect 10-0 against Modesto since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will face off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Enochs barely beat Orestimba the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles blew past the Warriors 9-1 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Enochs got a great performance from Soraya Mendoza as she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Mendoza has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Joella Amezcua and Makayla Alailima did most of the damage at the plate: Amezcua went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles, while Alailima went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most doubles Amezcua has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Camila Ramirez Quintana, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Enochs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in ten consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Modesto had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Johansen with a sharp 19-2 win on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Brianna Rueda made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Rueda was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Luton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Williams, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Enochs' record now sits at 18-4. As for Modesto, their record is now 7-16.
Modesto's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Enochs has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Modesto, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Enochs' sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Enochs took their victory against Modesto in their previous meeting on April 3rd by a conclusive 21-5 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
