Lowell fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Haverhill on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hillies by a score of 13-12. The Red Raiders' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Billerica Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Arlington get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Saturday. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Billerica Memorial pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Lowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
