Zach Hull made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Hull wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Richard Fretwell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Phoenix Country Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Chandler Prep by a score of 5-0 on Thursday.
Chandler Prep's batters probably weren't too happy with Soren Etheridge, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (he gave up a single walk). What's more, Etheridge gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.
Horizon Honors' record is now 4-0-1. As for Phoenix Country Day, their record is now 2-4.
Phoenix Country Day's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Horizon Honors has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. It's a different story for Phoenix Country Day, though, as they've only averaged .336. Will they be able to contain Horizon Honors' hitters?
