Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Central Bulldogs vs. South Newton Rebels

The Clinton Central Bulldogs will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the South Newton Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Clinton Central is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They took a blow against Bethesda Christian on Tuesday, falling 76-49. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 19 in a row.

Clinton Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyson Albaugh, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points and three steals, and Jackson Shoup, who posted 12 points. Amrin Barrett was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Meanwhile, South Newton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They took down Watseka 51-34.

South Newton's win came from a few key players Clinton Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Colton Marks, who shot 54% from the field en route to 17 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds. Those eight steals gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Armstrong, who went 9-for-16 on his way to 18 points and eight boards.
