Recap: Towson Generals vs. Kenwood Bluebirds

After a string of five wins, the Towson Generals's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. The matchup between Towson and Kenwood wasn't particularly close, with Towson falling 70-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Towson in their matchups with Kenwood: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Towson had strong showings from Quint Fryer, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Braden Renner, who scored 13 points. Fryer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Towson struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Kenwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Austin Mbuyi led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mbuyi has scored at least 25% of Kenwood's points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Otuyelu, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Towson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Kenwood, they pushed their record up to 4-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Towson will take on Parkville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kenwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Randallstown at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Randallstown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Kenwood likes a good challenge.
