Softball Recap: Skyline Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Skyline extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 14-5 in the process. They put the hurt on the Spearville Lancers with a sharp 14-4 win. The Thunderbirds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Gaby Eubank and Brylie Ackerman did most of the damage at the plate: Eubank went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Ackerman went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ashley Spease, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Skyline hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matches.

As for Spearville, they dropped their record down to 15-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since April 17th.

On Spearville's side, Ema Karrer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Karrer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Blackburn, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Spearville beat Skyline by a score of 10-8 later that day.
