Softball Game Preview: Powell County Pirates vs. Berea Pirates

Powell County will face off against Berea at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Powell County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.

Powell County fell victim to Lee County and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bobcats, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Powell County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Presley Eplin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Eplin has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Berea couldn't beat Model on Tuesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the sixth inning. The Pirates fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 10-9.

Berea has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Powell County, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Everything went Powell County's way against Berea when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Powell County made off with a 14-8 win. Does Powell County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Berea turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
