Basketball Game Preview: Dowling Catholic Maroons vs. Ankeny Hawks

Dowling Catholic is 2-8 against Ankeny since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Dowling Catholic Maroons will square off against the Ankeny Hawks at 7:45 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Dowling Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Southeast Polk, taking the game 64-56. The win continues a trend for the Maroons in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Ankeny entered their tilt with Liberty on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They beat the Lightning by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 79-48. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Lightning are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dowling Catholic's record is now 9-4. As for Ankeny, their record now sits at 12-9.

Dowling Catholic ended up a good deal behind Ankeny in their previous matchup last Friday, losing 63-48. Can Dowling Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
