Baseball Game Preview: Newport - Bellevue Knights vs. Skyline Spartans

The Newport - Bellevue Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Skyline Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Newport - Bellevue's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Monday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Newport - Bellevue came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mercer Island by a score of 4-2 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Knights have suffered since March 17th.

Max Higbee was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Newport - Bellevue saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Unay, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Unay brought in this season.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Skyline and North Creek, and North Creek kept the tradition alive. The Spartans fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 2-1 on Friday.

Newport - Bellevue's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
