Basketball Recap: Malachi Tribble's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gramercy Christian over New Bern Christian Academy

Gramercy Christian lost against New Bern Christian Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The game between the Gramercy Christian Warriors and New Bern Christian Academy didn't end well, with the Gramercy Christian Warriors falling 53-34. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while New Bern Christian Academy are ranked 162nd).

Gramercy Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi Tribble, who posted eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Diego De Hoyos, who had 11 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Gramercy Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

It was another big night for KC Peter, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds for New Bern Christian Academy. Peter's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Tyler Willis was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Gramercy Christian's record now sits at 7-12. As for New Bern Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gramercy Christian has already played their next game (against Coastal Brigade), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. New Bern Christian Academy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hilltop Christian at 5:30 p.m. Hilltop Christian will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something New Bern Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
