Baseball Recap: Weymouth Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Weymouth can now relate to. They fell just short of the Leominster Blue Devils by a score of 2-0 on Sunday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

Liam Barr was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Weymouth saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Daley, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Weymouth and nudges their season record down to 18-7. As for Leominster, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Weymouth nor Leominster have any future games scheduled.
