Basketball Game Preview: McKinley Bulldogs vs. Lake Blue Streaks

The McKinley Bulldogs will face off against the Lake Blue Streaks at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. McKinley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Last Wednesday, McKinley didn't have quite enough to beat Hoover and fell 45-43. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly two points.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ka'Myah Gisentaner, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Mya Taylor was another key player, putting up 18 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, McKinley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Lake ended up a good deal behind Washington on Saturday and lost 68-50. While losing is never fun, the Blue Streaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Tigers are ranked 17th).

Lake has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for McKinley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

McKinley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lake in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-50 win. Will McKinley repeat their success, or does Lake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
