Basketball Recap: Laurel Takes a Loss

Laurel played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 73-29 loss at the hands of the Flowers Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Jaguars are ranked 28th).

Flowers was led to victory by Ava Redmond and Alana Joy. Redmond went 10-for-20 to rack up 23 points, while Joy went 7-for-11 on her way to 15 points. Kyla Graham was another key player, putting up six points and five steals.

Laurel has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Flowers, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Laurel has already played their next game (against High Point), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Flowers, they have already played their next matchup, a 56-49 win against Wise on the 4th.
