Basketball Recap: Washington Takes a Loss

Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Decatur Seahawks, falling 80-15. The Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-13.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Decatur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maleah Blake, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 15 points and three steals. The match was Blake's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lila Gunther, who went 5 for 10 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Decatur, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

When Washington and Decatur next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Washington will square off against Parkside and their five-game winning streak on Monday. Similarly, Decatur will try to stop Wicomico's eight-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
