Basketball Recap: Bessemer City Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lincolnton + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bessemer City). They came out on top against the Lincolnton Wolves by a score of 65-57 on Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bessemer City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tristen Gordon, who shot 71% from the field on his way to 15 points and three steals. Those 71% field goal percentage gave Gordon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Black, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 18 points.

Bessemer City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Lincolnton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Josiah Guyton, who shot 70% from the field en route to 19 points along with seven boards and three blocks. The contest was his third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Cam Smith, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Bessemer City's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lincolnton, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Bessemer City will be playing at home against West Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincolnton, they will head out to square off against Cherryville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves will be up against the Ironmen's rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.8 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
