Odem has gone 8-2 against West Oso recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Owls will host the Bears at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Odem comes in on five and West Oso on three.

Last Monday, Odem narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past George West 8-6.

Payton Simmons made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Simmons was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Eric Swisher was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, West Oso won against George West on Friday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Bears came out on top against Aransas Pass by a score of 6-3.

Jashaud Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. West Oso is 7-3 when Johnson allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Julian Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaime Guerrero, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Odem pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for West Oso, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Odem skirted past West Oso 5-3 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
