Basketball Recap: University Comes Up Short

University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 94-46 loss at the hands of the Westchester Comets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 93-35 back in January.

Kahmron Hill and Orpheu Cummings certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Hill went 6-for-10 en route to 16 points, while Cummings went 5-for-8 on his way to 11 points. What's more, Hill also posted a 60% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Westchester, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westchester, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Fairfax at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Westchester knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Fairfax likes a good challenge.
