Softball Game Preview: Stratford Spartans vs. Cy-Fair Bobcats

Stratford is 1-9 against Cy-Fair since March of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Spartans will welcome the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cy-Fair will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Stratford extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Spartans blew past Jersey Village 16-1.

Allison Hibbetts and Brooklyn Marks did most of the damage at the plate: Hibbetts went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI, while Marks scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Marks a new career-high in RBI (three). Sophie Donnel was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

Stratford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Cy-Fair had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Mustangs.

Cy-Fair pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Stratford, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.
