Basketball Recap: MICHAEL BROWN's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Schurz over Little Village

Schurz and Little Village squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Schurz had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Little Village Phoenix by a score of 79-77. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since January 7th.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was MICHAEL BROWN, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. BROWN is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. CAMERON TRENT was another key player, going 6-for-11 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points.

Little Village's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dion Boyd Jr led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Boyd Jr has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyshawn Miller, who put up 19 points and five assists.

Schurz's defeat dropped their record down to 18-14. As for Little Village, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-6.

Schurz does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Little Village, they will welcome St. Patrick at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Little Village is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.
