Basketball Recap: Josh Cole's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kosciusko over Leake Central

Kosciusko easily dispatched Newton County on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Whippets fell just short of the Leake Central Gators by a score of 76-73 on Friday. It was the first time this season that the Whippets let down their fans at home.

Several Whippets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Cole, who posted 18 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Cole has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cory Guyton Jr, who went 8-for-18 en route to 21 points.

Kosciusko suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 8-2. As for Leake Central, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Kosciusko didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 84-52 victory against East Webster on the 13th. As for Leake Central, they will head out to challenge Murrah at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
