Football Game Preview: Marvin Ridge Mavericks vs. Weddington Warriors + How To Watch

Marvin Ridge hasn't had much luck against Weddington recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mavericks will welcome the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Marvin Ridge beat Piedmont 13-7. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Marvin Ridge's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Manny Lewis and Colin McDade, who racked up 5.5 sacks between them. With that strong performance, Lewis is now averaging an impressive 6.2 total tackles per game. Marvin Ridge got some further help from Sam Svonovec: he made 17 total tackles and defended two passes.

Meanwhile, Weddington didn't have too much trouble with Sun Valley on Friday as they won 21-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Warriors' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Spartans are ranked 36th).

Weddington's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Marvin Ridge, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Marvin Ridge took a serious blow against Weddington when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 45-13. Thankfully for the Mavericks, Nick Diamond (who rushed for 98 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
