Nimitz is 8-2 against Aldine since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Nimitz Cougars will be playing at home against the Aldine Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Nimitz has four straight wins, Aldine has 18 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Nimitz is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 74-16 victory over MacArthur. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Aniah Richard, who went 9 of 15 en route to 25 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.
Nimitz smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, Aldine played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 50-15 defeat at the hands of Dekaney. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-8.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Nevaeh Adame and Mireya Molina, who each put up three points. Molina also led the team in rebounds with eight. Zarayah Tucker took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Nimitz has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Aldine, their loss dropped their record down to 1-18.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Nimitz has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Aldine struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Nimitz against Aldine when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 71-10 win. In that game, Nimitz amassed a halftime lead of 41-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
