Softball Game Preview: Juarez Eagles vs. Solorio Sun Warriors

The Juarez Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Solorio Sun Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Juarez will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Clemente on Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 21-14 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Solorio made easy work of Goode STEM Academy on Saturday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sun Warriors.

Natalie Pacheco made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Solorio let Melanie Martinez and Anahi Valladares run wild. Martinez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Valladares went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Martinez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Fatima Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Solorio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Juarez's record now sits at 14-2. As for Solorio, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Juarez took their victory against Solorio when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
