Preview: Hanks Knights vs. Parkland Matadors

Hanks is 8-2 against the Matadors since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hanks Knights will look to defend their home court against the Parkland Matadors at 7:30 p.m. Hanks is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 14 games.

In what's become a running theme this season, Hanks gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 59-17 victory over Del Valle. Given Hanks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Conquistadores are ranked 876th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hanks' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anette Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 22 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zoey Burton, who scored 14 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Parkland came up short against the Conquistadores on Friday and fell 34-27. Parkland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hanks is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. As for Parkland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Hanks against the Matadors in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 69-23 win. Will Hanks repeat their success, or do the Matadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
