Softball Recap: Boise Brave vs. Capital Golden Eagles

Boise had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 12-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Capital Golden Eagles, falling 13-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Brave have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Kamryn Newbery made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hopstad, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Capital, their win bumped their record up to 14-10. Considering they have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Capital's side, Kiya Caltabiano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits. Caltabiano has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Capital got a massive performance out of McKenna Chavez, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits Chavez has posted since back in April of 2024. Lizzy Turpen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

As of now, neither Boise nor Capital have any future games scheduled.
