Baseball Game Preview: Niles North Vikings vs. Schaumburg Saxons

The Niles North Vikings will take on the Schaumburg Saxons at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Niles North hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

On Tuesday, Niles North needed a bit of extra time to put away Conant. They beat the Cougars by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1.

Niles North's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nico Vasquez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Jacob Wolfinger also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Schaumburg's offense. They lost 8-0 to Dundee-Crown on Friday.

The win got Niles North back to even at 2-2-1. As for Schaumburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Niles North's way against Schaumburg in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Niles North made off with a 9-1 victory. Does Niles North have another victory up their sleeve, or will Schaumburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
