Soccer Game Preview: Poteet vs. Adams

The Poteet Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Adams Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poteet is headed into the game having not lost since January 17 and will look to keep things rolling. They were the clear victor by a 4-1 margin over Wilson on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-0.

Meanwhile, Adams kept a clean sheet against Samuell on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Spartans. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Spartans are ranked 597th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Michael Moya and Chris Esparza scored both of Adams' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Poteet has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those six games. As for Adams, they pushed their record up to 8-1-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
