Football Recap: North Lamar Comes Up Short

North Lamar extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 37-14 to the Mineola Yellowjackets. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

As for Mineola, the victory got them back to even at 2-2. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their eight-point performance the contest before.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Braelyn Geremonte and Aidan Shepherd. Geremonte rushed for 135 yards and one score while picking up 7.5 yards per carry while Shepherd gained 61 total yards and a touchdown. With that strong performance, Geremonte is now averaging an impressive 101 rushing yards per game.

Looking ahead, North Lamar will face off against Ford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Lamar will need to watch out since Ford has now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Mineola, they will square off against Mount Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Yellowjackets their first taste of in-conference action this season.
