Softball Recap: St. Johns Country Day Takes a Loss

St. Johns Country Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-15 heartbreaker at the hands of the Christ's Church Academy Eagles. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 12-11.

Gabi Oceguera was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Giavanna Rosado also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

St. Johns Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Christ's Church Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-7.

Coming up, St. Johns Country Day will head out on the road to square off against University Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Christ's Church Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parsons Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Eagles' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Lions have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
