Softball Game Preview: East Wake Academy Eagles vs. Vance Charter Knights

East Wake Academy hasn't had much luck against Vance Charter recently, but that could start to change on Monday. East Wake Academy will square off against Vance Charter at 5:00 p.m. East Wake Academy will be strutting in after a win while Vance Charter will be coming in after a loss.

While Eagles fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They put the hurt on American Leadership Academy-Johnston with a sharp 14-4 victory back in February.

Meanwhile, Vance Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Falls Lake, falling 9-3. The match marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Katelin Guerrant was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Puryear, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Guerrant wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Vance Charter lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive games.

East Wake Academy might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Vance Charter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can East Wake Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
