Baseball Game Preview: Lima Senior Spartans vs. Elida Bulldogs

The Lima Senior Spartans will challenge the Elida Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lima Senior is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Lima Senior got the win against Waite by a conclusive 17-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Lima Senior got a massive performance out of Emmanuel Jokinen-Rutz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Jokinen-Rutz has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Irus Wash, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

Lima Senior always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Elida owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wapakoneta, sneaking past 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Not much got past Ryan McGue, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Wapakoneta off the board.

On the hitting side, Elida secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Ben Adcock, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Elida's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Lima Senior, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Lima Senior beat Elida 8-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
