Baseball Game Preview: Wapakoneta Redskins vs. Coldwater Cavaliers

The Wapakoneta Redskins will venture away from home to take on the Coldwater Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wapakoneta 1.6, Coldwater 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Saturday, Wapakoneta didn't have quite enough to beat Grove City and fell 4-2. The Redskins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Coldwater entered their tilt with Ottawa-Glandorf on Saturday with 18 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 19. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Cavaliers have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Coldwater pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wapakoneta, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.

Wapakoneta suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Coldwater in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
