Baseball Game Preview: West Carroll Thunder vs. Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders

The West Carroll Thunder will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

West Carroll is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Orangeville. West Carroll's pitchers stepped up to hand Orangeville a 9-0 shutout on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Chanse Schnitzler, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Maddox Gendreau was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Ashton-Franklin Center made easy work of Serena on Saturday and carried off a 9-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Chase Near and Brock Lehman did most of the damage at the plate: Near scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Lehman scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Lehman has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Barrett Becker, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
