Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Railsplitters vs. Franklin Patriots

The Lincoln Railsplitters are taking a road trip to face off against the Franklin Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Saline hit Lincoln with a six-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Railsplitters lost 13-1 to the Hornets. The Railsplitters have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lincoln saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Stone, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Franklin never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Dearborn as they made off with a 7-0 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

Ryan Davis was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Andrew Mullins was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Franklin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 19-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 8-17.
