Basketball Recap: Capistrano Valley Christian Picks Up 11th Consecutive Victory

Capistrano Valley Christian came tearing into Friday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Avalon Lancers to the tune of 80-25. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Capistrano Valley Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Ahern led the charge by going 10 for 13 en route to 22 points and seven steals. The contest was Ahern's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Makelela, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Capistrano Valley Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for Avalon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Capistrano Valley Christian will welcome Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avalon, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against First Baptist at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Avalon is facing First Baptist at the right time seeing as First Baptist is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
