Football Recap: Beckman Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Beckman was the 20-7 winner over Portola when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Patriots fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 24-21 on Friday. The match was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Patriots couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Beckman still got an impressive performance from Makhi Czaykowski, who rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. Czaykowski's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 120 rushing yards.

Portola's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Orion Suttle, who rushed for 25 yards and one TD, and also threw for 82 yards and one touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes. The Bulldogs also got a significant boost from Timothy Grettenberg, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Beckman and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Portola, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Beckman has already played their next game, a 35-14 victory against Woodbridge on the 19th. As for Portola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 22-14 loss against Northwood on the 19th.
