Football Game Preview: Russell Rustlers vs. Billings Senior Broncs + How To Watch

Russell hasn't had much luck against Billings Senior recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rustlers will host the Broncs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Russell's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Billings West on Friday. They were outmatched by the Golden Bears and fell 40-0. While losing is never fun, the Rustlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Golden Bears are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Billings Senior lost to Belgrade on the road by a 44-25 margin on Friday. Despite 197 more yards than the Panthers, the Broncs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Russell will have to contain Rylan Jennings as he made an impact in Billings Senior's last game. He picked up 131 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards. Another player making a difference was Severen Cellan, who threw for 143 yards and one TD.

While Billings Senior came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Belgrade: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 29.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Paeton Swain, Chance Zundel, and Woodrow Shirley, who each logged one passes deflected. Billings Senior wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 46.5%.

Billings Senior didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Blake Galvin.

Billings Senior's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Russell, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Russell didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Billings Senior in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 19-13 win.
