Recap: Midlothian Heritage Jaguars vs. Burleson Elks
The Midlothian Heritage Jaguars had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 41-27 win over Burleson. This was payback for Midlothian Heritage, who suffered a 40-34 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Midlothian Heritage can attribute much of their success to Ava Batty, who scored 20 points. Batty continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ivy Preusser was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Midlothian Heritage has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. As for Burleson, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Midlothian Heritage will head out on the road to take on Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Midlothian Heritage a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Burleson will take on Mansfield Summit at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mansfield Summit will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 575th, while Burleson is ranked 197th).
