Softball Recap: Twin Lakes Takes a Loss

Twin Lakes had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-10 to make it 12. They fell 7-2 to the Rensselaer Central Bombers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bombers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-8 on Monday.

Morgan Rodziewicz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.

As for Rensselaer Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Rensselaer Central's side, Kali Northcutt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Northcutt has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stacia Crabtree, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Brooke Koebcke was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Twin Lakes will face off against Benton Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bison have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.44 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rensselaer Central, they are taking a road trip to face off against Tri-County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Bombers surely won't give up without a fight.
