Baseball Recap: Stanton Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Stanton waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Ribault Trojans 15-2. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 9-8 victory the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Gio Cruz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Cruz was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, William Spellman and Hayden Foster did most of the damage at the plate: Spellman scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Foster scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Price, who scored a run and stole a base.

Stanton's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs over those games. As for Ribault, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Stanton will square off against Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stanton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Andrew Jackson's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ribault, they will challenge Sandalwood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
