Baseball Recap: Bob Hope's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Non Varsity Opponent, Bob Hope was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Houston Academy Cougars. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Dante Chapa was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those hits marked the first that he allowed this season. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases. He is becoming a predictor of Bob Hope's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Federico Chapa, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Benny Chavez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Bob Hope always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bob Hope's win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Coming up, Bob Hope will venture away from home to face off against Texas Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be Bob Hope's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Houston Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bob Hope at 4:00 p.m. on April 11.
