Basketball Recap: MCC Piles Up the Points Against Universal

MCC won the last time they faced Universal and things went their way on Friday too. The MCC Crescents really took it to the Universal Stars for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-31 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-15.

Leading MCC to victory were Zayd Ibrahim and Amaar Ibrahim. Zayd almost dropped a triple-double on 24 points, ten boards, and nine steals, while Amaar went 9 of 22 on his way to 23 points and six steals. The contest was Amaar's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hasan Siddiqui, who posted three points and eight steals.

Despite the loss, Universal had strong showings from Abdullah Elzebak, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points, and Omar Motan, who put up four points and eight rebounds. That was a full 48.4% of Universal's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

The victory got MCC back to even at 3-3. As for Universal, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

MCC wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 78-38 win against Hinsdale Adventist Academy on the 9th. As for Universal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 84-35 defeat against Southland College Prep on the 9th.
