It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mena ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Nashville Scrappers 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Bearcats as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Abi Koppein was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

Koppein wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Cox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Cox has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Mena's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Nashville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Looking ahead, Mena will head out on the road to square off against Clarksville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Nashville, they will host De Queen at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Leopards' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Scrappers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
