Basketball Game Preview: Modoc Braves vs. Weed Cougars

Modoc hasn't had much luck against Weed recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Modoc Braves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Weed Cougars at 8:30 p.m. Modoc is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Modoc came up short against Trinity and fell 59-46.

Despite their loss, Modoc saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sutton Cockrell, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and six boards, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Chris Guasp, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Weed). They blew past Fall River, posting a 90-38 victory. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Weed is also on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Modoc, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9.

Modoc was dealt a bruising 73-36 loss at the hands of Weed in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Modoc avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
