Soccer Game Preview: Woodlawn vs. Huffman

The Woodlawn Colonels will head out to square off against the Huffman Vikings at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodlawn's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Woodlawn's offense. They came up short against Gardendale last Friday, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Huffman kept a clean sheet against Woodlawn last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Colonels. The result was nothing new for Huffman, who have now won five matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Woodlawn with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Genesis Ocesueda (3), Kimberly Martinez (2), and Alisson Ortega.

Huffman has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. Woodlawn's loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Woodlawn might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Huffman in their previous meeting last Thursday. Can Woodlawn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
